This study theologically evaluates the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and its impact on students’ spiritual formation at Bukit Kasih Girian Permai Christian Junior High School. Using a qualitative theological and descriptive-interpretative approach, the study involved Christian Religious Education teachers, students in grades VII–IX, and school leaders. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis, and analyzed thematically using Richard R. Osmer’s practical theology framework. The findings indicate that the Merdeka Curriculum promotes participatory and contextual learning; however, its effectiveness in shaping students’ spirituality depends largely on teachers’ ability to integrate Christian faith into the learning process. Students’ spirituality develops more fully when learning freedom is understood as freedom in Christ oriented toward responsibility and obedience. The study concludes that the Merdeka Curriculum is effective in Christian education when directed as a means of spiritual formation.
